Patient-specific Carpal Bone Prosthesis
Carpitech is a personalized medical device designed to restore the structural integrity and functionality of the wrist. Carpitech utilizes 3D printing to create a personalized carpal bone prosthesis for patients with irreparable non-union and avascular necrosis.
Features & Benefits
Manufactured only in titanium (Ti6Al4V Grade 23 ELI), eliminating the risk of allergy to CoCr (Ni).
The design is based on a mirror image of the unaffected wrist, resulting in a prosthesis with an anatomically perfect fit.
Holes are incorporated for reinsertion of the native scapholunate ligaments.
Further reconstruction of the scapho-trapezial and scapho-lunate ligaments is possible by incorporating a tunnel in the implant for suspension with a strip of the flexor carpi radialis tendon.
Surfaces are selectively polished or roughened, depending on the need for ligament apposition.
